The Magic of SEO
S-E-O are the magic three letters that stand for Search Engine Optimization, and they’re magic because they can transform your business.
Everyone you know uses a search engine. Everyone. The saturation of the Internet is complete; it permeates our lives. Recently a lot of people started making a lot of noise that social was the new search, that people wouldn’t search for information anymore, instead they’d use social media like Facebook and Twitter to get recommendations from friends. Well, a 2011 study has proved that this is utterly untrue. People, it turns out, stay in networks of friends where large swaths of opinions are already shared, and don’t seek recommendations for new tastes or products from those friends in large numbers. So, SEO is as relevant in 2012 as it was in 2005.

With Search Engine Optimization, you make your website amenable to the automated crawling that is how a search engine (primarily Google and Bing) understands the content of your site. There are three prongs to any SEO campaign: First, research, second, on-site changes, third, off-site link-building.
Research: What are the key words and phrases by which people who want your product and service are likely to search? Use tools like Google Adwords Keyword Research Tool to find out the volume at which people search for phrases, and target the ones that make the most sense.
On-site: Make your website search engine friendly. Make sure your key phrases are present on your website, in context with meaningful, useful text that indicates your site has value to people using that phrase in search. Make sure your code is friendly to search engines.
Off-site: Solicit links from high-authority websites in order to gain some of the “”link juice”" such sites can convey. Link-building should be augmented with social bookmarking and Web 2.0 site building.
